Paul Bowes (64) in fine form v Staithes

Heslerton v Staithes  6th May 2017

Last season’s champions, Staithes, took first knock at Heslerton being bowled out in the 41st over for a modest 147, Richard Hegarty (25), Simon Bowes (25) and S Pearson (37) the principle scorers with Dan Jeminson (3-19) impressing with the ball, ably supported by Andrew Slaughter (2-25) and Paul Kinghorn (2-27)

After the break the home team made a positive reply with Paul Bowes and Rob Middlewood putting on 63 before the latter departed in the 17th over. The introduction of spin from the Bowling Green end slowed the scoring rate as Chris Morrison claimed (3-24) from his 12 overs, 5 of which were maidens. Scott Brennan (27) batted with authority but it was Paul Bowes (64) who kept Heslerton in the ascendancy before a late cameo innings from Sam Triffitt (17) and Stuart Pickard (18 no) took Heslerton to victory by 4 wickets in the 41st over.
