Heslerton 2nds v Thornton Dale 2nds  29th April 2017

Heslerton 2nds got their season off to a great start with the opening pair, Simon Oxendale, returning to the club after a spell with Lockton and Ian Dade featured in a partnership of 114 before Dade was bowled in the 18th over for 56. 12 year old R Vance then claimed a second wicket next ball but a further 71 run partnership between the opener and John Lay (30) for the 5th wicket enabled the home team post a final total of 259-7 in their 40 overs, Oxendale remaining unbeaten on 127, J Lay (3-38) from 8 overs proving the visitors most successful bowler.


Replying the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 58 in the 27th over.

National Village Championship, Match Report, 30th April 2017

Heslerton v Alne

Heslerton batted first on a cold but bright Sunday at Heslerton in the first round of the National Village Championship versus Alne from the Nidderdale League and despite Paul Bowes (23) slipped to 69 – 3 after 17 overs. Enter Club Secretary, Andy Slaughter to join Tom Benthall, the pair batting magnificently with an undefeated 4th wicket partnership of 153 to complete their 40 available overs on 222, Benthall finishing on 82 and Slaughter 66.

After the break the visitors opening bat Alex Buteaux (78) held his side together before being LBW to Jonathan Duffill towards the end of the innings which was brought to a rapid conclusion by Andy Slaughter (4-18) for a final total of 141, T Jackson (15) and O Vaughan (18) being the other leading scorers.
